Environmental Engineering - I-degree studies
First-degree studies of general academic profile are conducted on a full-time and extramural basis, last 7 semesters (3.5 years) and end with the defense of the diploma thesis and the graduation exam. Graduating from the Bachelor's degree program, the graduate obtains the professional title of engineer (Eng.).
Classes are conducted in the form of lectures, projects, laboratories, exercises and a diploma seminar. Since the third semester of study, part of the project classes are held in the form of technical trips to engineering facilities (water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, waste management plants).
As part of their studies, students complete a 160-hour internship (4th semester of study) in industrial plants, design offices or state and local government institutions related to environmental engineering.
During their studies, students can participate free of charge in industry-specific courses and trainings (e.g., installation, computer), orgaznized by the Institute of Environmental Engineering and cooperating companies.
A detailed course syllabus is available in the SylabUZ system (link).
Profile of a graduate
Graduates of engineering studies are prepared to independently perform tasks in the design, construction and operation of engineering facilities including: water treatment plants, sewage treatment plants, water and sewage, heating and gas networks and installations, and waste disposal plants. He has a broad knowledge of environmental technologies and management, and the ability to solve design and construction problems in the field of sanitary engineering using modern computer techniques.
Graduates are proficient in a foreign language at the B2 level of the Council of Europe's Common European Framework of Reference for Languages and have the ability to use a specialized language in the field of study, and can operate computer programs for design, modeling and simulation.
Upon completion of the bachelor's degree and the relevant apprenticeship, graduates can apply for a construction licence in the installation specialisation in a limited scope.
Graduates of the environmental engineering degree program are prepared to enroll in a second-degree program in environmental engineering with specializations in sanitary engineering or renewable energy.
